The event was organized by the Institute of Anthropological Research and Archaeological Museum of the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (INIAM-UMSS), and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), within the framework of the activities of the Bolivian Society of Genetics (SOBOGEN).
This exhibition “History of Chagas Disease: from prehistory to present times” was held at INIAM in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia. The inauguration was on July 24, 2019 and the exhibition remained open until August 24, 2019.
INIAM participated in this exhibition, disseminating its studies and presenting the line of Paleoparasitology, a science that studies the processes of health and parasitic disease in the past, with the support of genetics. The latter reveals important information that contributes to the reconstruction of the history of the ancestral populations. This line of research has been developed for the last 10 years with bioarchaeological materials from INIAM.
