Once SOBOGEN was created, an ad hoc committee was formed, aimed at settling the elections to form the first directory of SOBOGEN, an act that was carried out on June 28 and 29, 2012. Voting ballots were sent to all people who participated in the Human Genetics Workshop in September 2011.

In this electoral act, a support of 100% of the voters was observed for the team that ran. The team was therefore identified as the winner. The team took function on July 20 of the same year. Since the stipulated time was elapsed, in November 2017 new elections were called for the change of the board. With 80% of the votes, on August 3, 2018, the new board took office.

In August 2019, the portfolios were modified. Through elections by internal vote, it was decided that the new directive would remain in function from July 25, 2019 until the end of 2022.

At the end of the 2022, the former president Dr. Evaristo Venegas had to quit his position and he decided to give it to MSc. Esdenka Péres Cascales, then making her our actual president.

In January 2023 the new directive board was inaugurated by agreement of the members present in the general assembly mentioned earlier.

For this period it has been decided to have the headquarters centralized in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.

During the general assembly, a special tribute was realized to honor Dr. Michel Tibayrenc in recognizement of all the support and collaboration he has provided to the Society over all these years.
The actual directive board has nomed him as the “Honorary life member of the SoBoGen”, who will be able to participate in the positions of “Scientific Board” and “International Relations”.
